Ohio State and Michigan, one of the sport’s most heated rivalries, started the day’s chaos when a fight broke out after the Wolverines upset the No. 2 Buckeyes. A group of Michigan players attempted to plant a UM flag at midfield at Ohio Stadium. The fight got so heated that multiple law enforcement agencies had to step in and break it up.

Though flag-planting isn't a new concept, it was prolific throughout Week 14's rivalry games.  Four contests ended with one team trying to slam a flag into the ground of another team's field. Predictably,

There were equally ugly scenes at the Kenan Memorial Stadium in Chapel Hill, as North Carolina (NC) State defeated the University of North Carolina (UNC) 35-30 for its fourth consecutive win in the rivalry game. Running back Hollywood Smothers punched in a two-yard touchdown to give NC the lead with 25 seconds left in the game.

College football was dominated by flags on Saturday. Not the ones thrown by officials — the ones planted by players in the middle of the field. Michigan, North Carolina State and Florida celebrated road wins by displaying flags on the logos in the middle of their rivals’ stadiums.
