A nationwide solidarity strike that spread to Bay Area garbage collection workers has entered its second week, as odorous bags piled up in residential areas across the region amid a contract standoff.
The Teamsters union said it had picket lines up at Republic Services locations in San Diego, Los Angeles, and Seattle. Other strikes against Republic, a national waste management firm, have begun in Georgia and Illinois.
