Inside the halls of 25 Main Street, Cooperstown, N.Y., sits the Hall of Fame plaque of Minnie Minoso, the most storied Cuban player to ever suit up for the White Sox. He forever has etched into his hat the club’s interlocking logo.

Former Chicago White Sox catcher Martin Maldonado has signed a minor league contract with the San Diego Padres. Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports that he also gets an invite to spring training out of the deal.

In recent years, the White Sox have used the international signing period to sign prospects such as Oscar Colas, Erick Hernandez, Bryan Ramos, Norge Vera, Christian Mena, and many others. During the 2025 period, the White Sox have a bonus pool of $6,261,600 which they can use towards their deals.

David Keller believes that talent comes from anywhere and everywhere. “And as a part of that, we want to make our presence felt in the areas where talent is coming from,” said Keller, a special assistant to the general manager for the White Sox,

The Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms with 16 international players, including two ranked in the Top 100 available prospects, Alejandro Cruz and Orlando Patiño, and other prospects with potential.
