I want a drill press - AR15.COM
May 13, 2024 · My first press was a 8"Harbor Freight that still works great to this day. It was around $50. My second press was a Craftsman 13" that was made pre-WW2. It is a tank. I got it along with other period Craftsman power tools (lathe, jointer, table saw, etc.) for $200. My latest is a 16" Duracraft made in 1982 (Taiwan). It was free to me.

And I'm aware that thousands of lowers have been done on drill presses of many makes and models, I'm an old school hobby person that will always use the right tools to do the job.

Aug 2, 2013 · You use it to drill holes, ream holes, tap holes ( if you have a proper self reversing tapping head which cost more than your drill press). My uncle is a master tool and die maker, and with over 35 years in trade he had a careless incident running a lathe - so now he can only count to nine on his hands.

Sep 25, 2024 · Buy a square column mill drill from Precision Matthew's. I have that mill but older from HF. Mine is also Taiwanese. It can do a lot of good work but you want to be able to move your Z height without loosing your zero. You don't know how much time you'll waste resetting zero for little things like drilling and reaming.

Sep 13, 2012 · I use this one for a drill press stand. It's 32" tall and pretty sturdy. Replacing the top and middle shelf with plywood would make a decent stand if the height is tolerable. You would have to make the top a couple inches bigger to overhang the front edge because the metal support is angled out. It would interfere with the press on the down stroke.

Oct 5, 2024 · I needed a cordless orbital sander, I am not spending DeWalt prices on a orbital sander. Harbor Freight's Bauer one and a battery adapter to use DeWalt batteries for the win. Same with their 3 gallon battery backpack sprayer. Or their Blue tooth radio, or the one gallon electric sprayers.

Dec 11, 2020 · I just checked the HF website. It doesn't mention coming with a drill chuck. Maybe I bought it separately. My memory sucks, but now I seem to remember it being in a separate box. I can't find that on their website either though. They do have a mini lathe MT1 drill chuck but the 7x10 is stated as an MT2.
