Robert Menendez (/ m ɛ ˈ n ɛ n d ɛ z /; born January 1, 1954) is an American lawyer and former politician who served as a United States senator from New Jersey from 2006 [1] until his resignation in 2024 following his conviction on 16 counts in a political corruption case. [2] He was sentenced to 11 years in prison in January 2025. [3]
