At a quick glance, it looks like ATT is a lot more lax than TV Tropes, which means you could theoretically just start a trope page on ATT and no one would bat an eye. The interface is a lot less intuitive but, to be fair to ATT, TV Tropes had a pretty clunky design back in 2013 (which is when the ATT fork happened).

Sep 16, 2021 · Coincidentally Home Improvement went against one of the major tropes for Sitcom moms: the killjoy with no other major character traits. She started as one but evidently the actor for the mom came up with the idea of her character going back to school and it did wonders for her as a character.

Jan 31, 2022 · In the highlighted definition around 0:24 TVT defines tropes as "devices … not clichés". In my opinion, this use of "trope" is actually a metaphor. If a trope is a figure of speech in a verbal medium, then a TV trope is a "figure of speech" in the audiovisual medium of television.

Oct 15, 2021 · If TV Tropes were solely a "consumer-written site," they wouldn't allow creation of works or author pages for one's own work. But they do, and they're fine with it. In fact, they encourage creators of pages to do crosswicking and indexing so works pages will get more traffic.

Over 88,000 people have clicked on links on TV tropes to my actual work, many wiki-walking their way over from a casual mention on a page to the site's page on TV tropes, to actually perusing my stuff.
